The City of High Point (pop. 110,638) seeks a qualified person for the position of Code Enforcement Officer II-Mechanical in the Inspection Services Division, Planning and Development Department.  Major responsibilities include inspecting buildings and structures for compliance with NC State Building Codes and Codes of Ordinances for the City of High Point; preparing written reports of inspection findings; reading and reviewing construction plans and documents for the purpose of determining compliance with building codes; investigating complaints from citizens and public officials regarding code violations; and preparing correspondence to property owners, builders or other parties of interest relating to enforcement of the Building Codes and related laws and ordinances. 


Position requires High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and prior experience in building construction or inspection related to the mechanical trade sufficient to assure working knowledge of single family residential and commercial construction and repair.  Certification as Mechanical Inspector Standard Level II by the State of North Carolina or the ability to obtain a Probationary Certification as a Mechanical Inspector II from the State of North Carolina is required.  Standard Level III certification as a Mechanical Inspector preferred.  Must possess acceptable valid NC driver’s license; strong oral and written communication skills along with organizational skills.  Salary from $41,545.92 - $59,072.01 annually depending on qualifications along with an excellent benefits package.
